Hi guys, I just got the entire Adobe Video Professional Suite, so I am going to start bugging you now. First question that came up, I want to render at the same bitrate as I have been rendering in Vegas Video. I can’t find any adjustable settings, all I can find is a list of preset settings, non of which are exactly what I want. I need, for instance, 720X480 8mb Variable video with 48K 224kbs Stereo audio. Any suggestions?

    Thank you
    Charlie

    Hi Charlie,

When you select the MPEG2 option from the Adobe Media Encoder, you should see an option that says Video, with a little check box next to it. Select video and you can change the variables for exporting. If you don’t see these options, you will need to activate the adobe media encoder.

Thee Charlie King!! WOW…we are honored!! Welcome to the Pro forum.

    Mpeg 2 for DVD??

2 pass VBR at 8 mbps (average) is probably a waste of computer time. Your maximum bitrate cannot exceed much above 9 mbps and some players could choke on a DVD-R close to 9 mbps. VBR works best on longer projects requireing an average of 6 mbps or less.
    BUT
You can create a custom preset by choose the “NTSC DV 4 x3 Low Quality 6 Mb VBR 2 pass” and then clicking on “Video” in the left pane, making changes as you like and then when you click OK, Pro will ask you to name the preset for further use.

Pro does not have Dolby encoder (other than a demo), so you will need to use Encore to do that part. Pro will export elementary streams which can be imported into Encore…the default for audio is Dolby.

Hey thanks a lot, I didn’t see the seperate video and audio settings before cause I didn’t look in Adobe Media Encoder, dumb Charlie.

Mike, I guess I should have mentioned this was not for creating a DVD, it is for playback in our MPG players we use for playing advertising loops in the rooms here at the hotel. They work best at 8Mbs Variable. Currently don’t need Dolby since oour TV’s aren’t stereo anyhow. Some day hotewls might goin the world of TV viewers, but hey that would keep the guests in the rooms and out of the casino. Shame on anyone suggesting anything that would do that.

Again Thank you very much. I will be bugging you more as I learn this. Took me a while to learn Avid, from my old linear days, then learned Vegas, now I have the entire Video Suite from Adobe to learn. (And they say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks) I love this business cause I learn something new every day.
