  • Rendered video is blocky on horizontal lines, interlace issue?

Brace yourself…I don’t even know where to begin with the nightmare I have found myself in today: I shot a video a few weeks ago with my 5d Mk II at 1920x1080p 30fps, I imported the clips into a DV format (first mistake? HDV wasn’t available as an option on my pull down for whatever reason-not a trial version either) at 720×480 resolution (second mistake?) and cut together a video with Adobe Premiere CS5, I edited said video in After Effects CS5 (I imported the Premiere project by drag and drop into After Effects method and began adding effects), and the result is video that looks interlaced with blocky/pixelated horizontal lines.
I’ve been stressed all day with the idea of having to re-cut this whole video from the start. I’ve researched on the internet and on here and have found a variety of answers mostly pointing to “make sure the separate fields is set to ‘off’ when importing”, but that doesn’t seem to help me in my current situation (since it also seems it was set to “off” by default).
Anyone know exactly where I went wrong or if I can salvage this video without having to start over? Also some tips as to how to setup similar video next time around with recommended settings would be great too.
Hell, at this point I’m willing to drop a little cash to make this right without having to start over.

Here is a cropped frame of what I’m dealing with:

Clearly an interlace issue that is stripping one of the fields out.

How are you exporting to see this?

Are you seeing this in the Video panel of AE prior to exporting?

Hi Jon, I appreciate the quick response. The problem began in Adobe Premiere now that I review, it was pixelated from the get go. I’ve decided to re-cut the movie on a different computer where HDV is an option to begin with in Premiere Pro. I think my fault was I was working in the wrong dimensions and with Lower Fields on (since DV was the only available option).
Thanks again, I was a long time lurker, but now I am looking forward to being an active member of this forum!
