render without recompressing
So I know how to do this in FCP7, but I’m trying to learn/switch to Premiere. I just don’t quite have a handle on the exact render settings to know how to do this:
I have several video files that are perfect as-is, except that the audio needs to be normalized. So I’m basically just trying to re-render an existing movie file that has had nothing done to it except that the audio has been normalized. I know how to do everything (or maybe I don’t…see steps below), except I don’t know the proper render settings to use so that the video won’t be re-compressed when I render.
Here’s what I’ve done:
1. Import file
2. New Sequence from Clip
3. Audio Gain > Adjust Max Peak to 0 dB
4. Export
5. set export settings…this is where I run into trouble. When I check Match Sequence Settings, it changes the Output Summary to something that doesn’t even resemble the Source Summary – including resolution & frame rate. It also changes the extension to .mxf, which is not ideal in this case. I would try to set the export settings manually, but I’m afraid that any slight deviation will result in the video being re-compressed.
Any thoughts? Thanks!
