July 15, 2014 at 8:30 pmWhile I am waiting for PP CS6 to download, and reading from Adobe’s site, the question comes to mind… does Media Encoder replace Encore? If so, then why doesn’t it work? If not, then what does? Why the need to go backward compatible to use an ‘out of date’ Encore?
There is lots of talk about After Effects. Should that, or something else, be used instead? There are tons of videos to watch (and I’ve spent hours watching) and I know there are more ways to do something than just one, but I really just want someone to say, “Do these steps, just like this.” I need a DVD for the bride’s mother and an upload to vimeo for the bride, and possibly something to work on a mobile device. And at this point I would ask ‘how hard can that be?’ but I’ve realized ‘it’s complicated!’
As hard to learn as Final Cut Pro was, PP is a piece of cake. Exporting…. now that’s a different ball game.
OK, thanks for listening.

July 15, 2014 at 8:39 pmEncore is for DVD AUTHORING. Media Encoder is for encoding to various digital formats, including MPEG-2 for DVD, but Encore is still needed to actually author that content for DVD.
Adobe has not made an “Encore CC” since apparently some of the coding modules in Encore were licensed from another company that was bought-out/folded, so development could not continue. That said, the DVD specification has not changed in many years, so what new would they add anyway? It’s old technology.
After Effects – could possibly be used for creating animated menus for Encore, but otherwise not needed for DVD or encoding.
Thanks
