  • Render trouble with Clone Stamp tool – Retouching

Posted by Ted Griffis on October 10, 2008 at 5:29 pm

I have a piece of footage, aprox 45sec that I’m retouching in AE8. The source is a fairly static shot that needed a lot of clean up on a wall using the Clone Stamp tool. The source material is Uncompressed 10 bit 1280×720 23.976

When I hit render it just sits there thinking, thinking, and never seems to start the render. Left it for 8hrs last night with no results.
When I skip to any frame in the comp other than the first frame, the progress bar goes on for days… and never gets anywhere

I’ve tried checking and unchecking the render multiple frame box in prefs to see if it was a glitch in that area but have had no luck. Any ideas on a work around?

Is this the amount of clones I have? (aprox 1500) sort of new to this and not sure what the limitations are of this feature, if its my technique or some sort of software glitch. On a deadline and would appreciate any ideas.

    Thanks for your help.

Well, if I turn off the Paint filter that has all of the clones, everything seems back up to speed.

The only adjustments I have are Clones, any other suggestions for retouching out a bunch of dots off a wall in footage?

    Thanks for the help.

Hello, seems i’m experiencing the same problem with clone stamp tool.
I’ve like 1.800 clones and I believe they’re going to arrange a war against me.
or against my cpu, at least.
I would like to know if there is any other way to get rid of a plane’s radar, the footage is like 5 secs long and the plane is moving, that means is not always in the same position.

(it’s my first post here! quite excited! i love this site)

Uhm.. I’ve figured out how to do it!
I stabilized the footage (with track motion->stabilize), so I had the plane always in the center of the frame, then i cloned like 50 times, and it was done!
    easy!

    (…..2 hours of mumbling mumbling!!!)
