  • Render to “in and out” missing in final cut

    Hey guys,

I am fairly new to FCP. Must be something obvious. When I mark in and out points I do not get the “render to in and out” in my sequence drop down. I saw it “once” before so I know it exists. I even selected Mark>Select in to out and it selects my in and out but i get no render to in and out.

Please help, the only way for me to preview something is to export it. Otherwise I have to render the whole sequence and with keying software that takes forever.

    Thank you

    Elijah

I’ve never checked for the menu item, but if you have an in and out marked and you hit cmd+r, it should render between your marks only.

If not, try this: use the arrow tool and select the clip you want to render (so it turns brown). Hit cmd+r and just that clip will render.

Or, hit the “g” key 3 times to get the range selection tool and higlight just the part of a clip you want to render. Only the highlighted part will render

Under the “Tools” menu selecy “Quick Preview” and you will get alittle preview window so you don’t even have to wait for a render to finish.

Thanks for the quick reply Matt!

It just will not render in and out points. However your tip on getting the “range select” tool by hitting G 3 times works great!

Would still like to figure out how to render in and out but this works great in the meantime!

    Thanks

    Try this:

Mark your in and Out. Move the playhead to a spot that is not on ANY media (before or after the video in your sequence)

    Pretty weird “feature” though….

If you have a marked I/O in the timeline make sure nothing is selected. Press Cmd-Shift-A.

    All the best,

Hooray! This worked! The render to in and out is now available in FCP!

Why is this? What does Command SHift A officially do in final cut pro?
