Running the latest version of AE; CS6 Suite

    My specs are:

    Mac OS 10.9.2

    2.6GHZ Intel Core i7

    16GB RAM

1TB Hard Drive (about 20GB left)

After Effects is taking an incredibly long time to render. I’m wondering how to speed it up. Would my low HD space have anything to do with it?

    Thanks

It’s a good idea to restart AE prior to initiating a render. Quite often, I find my render times drop significantly when doing this.

In addition to Roland’s excellent tip, here are some links with information about improving After Effects performance in general.

There are many potential bottlenecks and issues that can cause long slow renders. Obvious ones like large files to be read and written, hundreds of layers and effects, not enough RAM, slow media drives, etc and some not so obvious bottlenecks which are discussed in the links above.

Thank You both. The best solution I’ve found is to use Dynamic Link, and work with Premiere for all my rendering and exporting needs.
