Render times seem so LONG!
I am running mac osx dual 2gHz power pc g5
memory 4.5GB DDR2 SDRAMI have a seq under 3 min that is AJA 2vuy codecs 30fps ( they are 3d movies coming out of maya)
The render is about 3 hours when i try and render it as a Sorenson 3 and change the res to 1000=583 ( from 720p) last time i rendered it it was 2 hours and this time it was 3… I did add a few more tracks of video but is this normal? or am i doing something wrong? -

Hello, Christina. I think we went over this once, but a dual 2.0 G5 is not a very fast computer, especially when working with uncompressed content.
That being said, what program are you using to transcode the uncompressed to Sorenson?

Also what connection are you using for you media drives, and is the drive a raid? Both of those things could definitely effect how fast you can render.

And how are you making these Sorenson movies? You aren’t just chaing the size and codec in FCP are you?

I am using compressor and in compressor i am changing the size and adding the Sorenson codec

Yeah, it’s just going to be slow. That’s not a very fast machine.
