  • Render times / Frame rate confusion

I am taking video from a miniDVR and putting projects together is Premiere Pro CS4 for export to Vimeo, and DVD.

I am lost. The source video is at 30.99 FPS, (which I’ve never even heard of). Vimeo wants 30 FPS. DVDs want 29.97 FPS.

As is, it takes on the order of 2-3 hours to render out 8 minutes or so of video.

This is 640×480 / 740×480 video+mono audio, with no effects, filters, etc. except for a 180 degree rotation (the video comes in upside-down) and a 1-second cross-fade every 2 minutes or so.
    An example is here: https://www.vimeo.com/12374633

I suspect that it’s the overhead of coping with the varying frame rates that’s behind this excruciating render rate, but I don’t really know how to deal with it.

    Any pointers or suggestions appreciated.

    Windows XP 64-bit
    4 GB RAM
    Dual-core processor
