Render TIFF sequence

Your only two choices are JPG and PNG.
If you really want TIFF images, then output as PNG and use a batch converter like the one built into IrfanView (it’s free) to do the conversion for you.

Does anyone know of a way to render a TIFF sequence from vegas.?

Try File | Render As… select Image Sequence as the Save as type and choose TIFF as the Template. You can also choose BMP, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WMPhoto, DPX, and EXR. No scripts needed.

John, Andrew should know that this is something that was added in Vegas Pro 9.
When I saw your post, I thought I had messed up so I went back through the Pro 8 menu (what I still use most of the time) and couldn’t find it anywhere.
A quick read of the Pro 9 release notes showed that I wasn’t going crazy 🙂

You’re correct Mike. Render as an Image Sequence was added to Vegas Pro 9.0. I assume that people are using the latest Vegas Pro software unless they say otherwise.

I don’t know about image sequences since I’ve never used that feature, but I can say that Vegas has supported tif files for several years. My best recollection is at least as far back as version 6.

I started using PNGs because, during the course of a project using lots of still images, Vegas was taking a very long time to reestablish its window after I had jumped to a different window such as Internet Explorer and was returning to Vegas. Someone told me that Vegas was calling Quick Time to reopen each tif image. I don’t know if that was true, but it prompted me to switch to PNGs.

Bob, TIFFS do indeed make a call to QT which is why most of us, just like you, prefer PNG images instead.
