Render Size
I have a multicam project that had two camera sources, one is HD 1920×1080 and the other is DV 720×576 anamorphic. The event was a play, and lasted, in total, about 2 hours 15 minutes.
In order to run multiclip, I needed to convert both the source clips to the same format/codec as shown in many other tutorials. So my settings were ProRes 422 (to match the main source clip) and thus then uprezzed the DV clip. I then import both clips back into FCP created a multiclip clip and edited away. All is good, and I have finished the 1st pass multiclip edit, but,,
What I have noticed on disk, is that the file generated using the HD source material is 2.75Gb, and the file with the uprezed DV is 67Gb
I don’t understand how the files can be so different. If I had the time, I would do it again, but it takes two hours to render this thing out.
Originally I had all the clips on the same sequence (sequence set to Proress 1920×1080) and then turned off the tracks I didn’t want for each render.
