  • Render Settings? (Sony Vegas Pro 10)

I am having problems with rendering footage for it to all look the same, as far as resolution, aspect ratio, render settings and the right way to convert the files. This might be quite complicated, but I’ll try to explain it best I can.

THIS IS ALL ON A PC JUST SO THAT IS CLEAR.

I have some footage shot years ago in 720×480/4:3/29fps. I also shot some things last year in 1440×1080/16:9/29fps and just filmed some stuff a week ago in 1920×1080/16:9/29fps. Anyhow, the company I work for wants footage from all 3 of these settings put into one video, BUT my problem is, is any which way I render these, I have discovered that there are so many settings that need to be the same for these to all look the same when rendered.

I’ve had many problems on how to render all 3 of these and have wasted many hours on testing in different resolutions, aspect ratios and more.

some things I have tried is taking the 1920×1080 videos and used FREEMAKE convertere and converted them to the smallest 720×480 video, and when I do that it looks good, and then I import them into sony vegas onto the timeline and render it as an .AVI file, but whenI do that the 1920 converted to 720 has the lines streaming across the objects and when I render it on Vegas to a 720×480 project. The same happens with the 1440×1080 files too. This also happens when I try to render the smaller videos to the bigger resolutions, which I understand is going to look bad because that is just blowing up the smaller videos. Anyhow, I have tried many many different render settings, but I haven’t discovered what the correct setting are to make all 3 videos the same for it to all look normal. I even tried taking all 3 and render the project as a 640×480 and one or more of the videos won’t be interlaced and the lines go all crazy. This is really driving me nuts because I don’t know the correct settings and no one I work with has any knowledge of this.
Is there any type of compressor for PCs that can make them all look the same? or is there any settings any of you might know on how to make this rendered project look right without any problems?

    SOS! PLEASE HELP!!

    thank you.

First, 1440×1080 is not 16:9; it is 4:3

I don’t see why you can’t use your footage directly in Vegas. You could make a final target that is 1920×1080 or 1280×720 or 720×480, etc. In all cases, you need to set the Track Motion so that the track’s media is correctly set for your destination.

E.g., if your target is 1920×1080 and you insert a 1280×720 clip, set the Track Motion keyframe to 1280×720 (so it won’t “blow up” the clip). If you’re putting a 1920×1080 clip into a 720×480 (not widescreen) track, then leave the Track Motion at 720×480. Vegas will automatically put the black bars top/bottom as it fits the 1920×1080 16:9 clip into a 720×480 3:2 frame.

    I’m doing a job right now where I have a mix of AVCHD (1920 x 1080) as well as miniDV (720 x 480).
I set my project to NTSC DV 720 x 480, drop everything on the timeline and render to the desired format.
In this particular case, it’s WMV but I’ve made DVDs and never had any problems.
