Okay so I am helping a friend with his projecct, and found there are a couple of things wrong.

Number one is a minor issue… When you playback the credit roll he has created… just a list of credits keyframed up to down, there looks like there is a transparent tracking bar distorting the text… it seemed like a fields issue, but when I exported as a Quicktime Animation, the problem was gone, but you still see it in the preview monitor… im guessing this is just something to do with the interface… yes?

Alright, second issue… the big one. FOR SOME REASON… I have no idea… my friends render settings are BY DEFAULT rendering to 320 x 240 and then stretching to 720 x 480. I have NO IDEA why this would happen, so I brought the exact project back home, and the settings were perfect… renders at 720 x 480 and stretches to 720 x 480 so there is no distortion. Here is a picture of what I am talking about if you don’t get it.

I can’t find anyway to change it, and it is the same on ANY render setting… avi, gif, mov, targa, ANYTHING… as if by default it is going to render to 320 x 240 and then stretch it 200% to 720 x 240. I advised him to update his CS3 After Effects, but he can’t do it till tomorrow when the internet dude gets there and hooks it up.

    VERY WIERD.

    Thanks all.

for the scaling issue, check the render settings in the render queue (usually says ‘best settings’ just above the output module). make sure the resolution is set to ‘full’.

If the comp is set to half res, and your friends render module is badly set (ie render to current res) then you will see the 360*240 render….I would then wonder what else would be badly set in order for it to stretch by itself (I never use the stretch in the output module)
