When rendering changes to clips in the timeline, ‘File Error: Unknown’ and/or ‘File Error: A file of this name already exists’ appears. The former results when I try and save the file.
Please, any suggestions on a fix here. Thank you!

    Hi Mark,

    Try deleting you render files.
If it doesnt help you could try your cache files and your FCP preferences as well. (https://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm)

    Hope this helps

I now read your post again,
If you get that error when saving your project (?)
Try saving it on your desktop (where your privileges most likely are correct)
There might be a hidden file with the same name in the location you are saving.
Probably a filename ending with period?
If so – you can show hidden files and delete it, or just name the project something else.
Also check that your user has read/write the whole path where you are saving.

Try saving the project with a different name.
