Render & Replace AE Comps linked in Premiere
Hello –
Since the Warp stabilizer came to CS5.5 this summer, I have been using it excessively, and it truly is a fantastic tool. However, I am approaching a point in my first big project where I need to hand it off to a colorist via an XML to bring into DaVinci Resolve.
The unfortunate part of this is that I obviously won’t be able to preserve my dynamic AE comps. I will have to open each one in AE, render them out, and replace them in the timeline. It would be awesome if, instead of doing this, there could be some sort of command that will automatically do this.
This feature would essentially create “preview” files, and then when you use the “Consolidate Project” command in the project manager, it would pull the render files, not the AE project.
I understand that there already is a command to pull the render files in the consolidate project, but this doesn’t work for two reasons:
1) The render files follow as Premiere Render Files, instead of actual clips. This is fine if you’re opening in Premiere, but not fine if you’re exporting in XML to Resolve, Color, or AAF to avid. You need everything as it’s own clip.
2) The resolution and codec of a preview file isn’t suitable for color grading. We need better control of preview file codec (i.e. not being locked into MPEG) if this will work.
I am going to submit this to Adobe, but just wanted to throw this out here to see if anyone has any ways around this.
