Hi there, I have searched all over cow and haven’t really found my answer. I am slightly new to AE and am having problems rendering out a comp. this is the system info:

    mac osx 10.5.1
2.66 ghz dual core intel xeon
    2 gb ram
    plenty of hd space
    ae 6.5
    fcp 5.1.4
    qt 7.4

not sure if the big bug with qt 7.4 is the problem…tried a few of the suggestions to no avail. here is what i am trying to do:

i have a video clip that has been ingested into fcp for a short film. it was shot in 60i and anamorphic squeeze and i am attempting to slow it down for the smoothest slow motion effect in ae by using time stretch @ 200%. i am following this tutorial i found on rarevision:

    https://rarevision.com/v1/articles/slow_motion.php

after i slow it down, i want to import it back into fcp and drop it in the 24 p timeline etc etc. i think that everything that i have done is correct so far, from shooting, fcp ingest, ae import, time adjustments, and setup of render queue. what happens is, after i’ve done everything rarevision tells me to do in ae, i add the comp to render queue, set up the settings (output is quicktime movie dv/ntsc: dv/dvcpro ntsc at 16:9 interlaced 24fps; render is best with frame blending and field render off) and hit render. it renders for literally a second and outputs a .mov file to my desktop, which is just a 1 sec still clip basically. useless. the footage i am manipulating and rendering is only 34 seconds long (it did belong to a longer 4 minute clip which i lifted out the stuff i didn’t want and was left with my shortened 34 second workspace). i have done ram preview which is a strange problem of its own in that it processes only 1/2 of the clip and plays only that. but when i just play it using time controls, it plays a little choppy but is fine and is what i want. i have also checked my memory and cache and everything seems fine in that it uses most of my capacities. i figure it’s such a simple thing that it doesn’t need 8gbs of ram.
so, what am i doing wrong here? it’s such a simple comp i can’t see what i could be doing wrong…

Sometimes that happens to me and i can’t figure it out either. Usually i just save the project and restart my comp open the project back up and try it again and it renders just fine. So if you havent tried that already maybe give that a shot.
