Render Quality. Possible Interlace Problem
Posted by Tyler Jenkins on January 17, 2013 at 10:04 pmI have this huge render issue when I render out my games. At first I thought it was a resample issue but when I disable resample it still does this. I render in Main concept Avc AAC/ Mp4 (Internet 720p) I am relatively new to this so I don’t know much about it. Can anyone out there help me fix this problem? I attached a pic of the horrible quality, please i need help.

January 18, 2013 at 12:29 amYes, that’s an interlace problem.
What you can try to do is set the Field Order in the
Project Properties to (None) Progressive Scan and also
in your render settings.Steve Rhoden

January 18, 2013 at 1:27 amRight I did all of that, disabled resample, and I even looked in previous posts related about this and I recall you mentioning a Deinterlacing plugin program in which I installed and successfully got running. Despite all of this I still notice the interlace in my renders. Is it possible that the magnitude of the quality render is affecting the interlace? For example, Would rendering in a higher quality such as 1080p affect this? regardless, whatever quality format I render in, I notice this problem as a constant. Any other tips?

on the Vegas timeline or present when you play the original in
a media player?Steve Rhoden

January 18, 2013 at 11:48 amCan you post a screen shot of your Project Properties, Media Properties, and Render Properties? The Media Properties can be seen by right-clicking on an event and select Properties and then the Media tab.
Without seeing any of this, I’m guessing that in your project properties you need to set your Deinterlace Method to Interpolate Fields.

January 18, 2013 at 7:36 pmHow are you capturing your gaming video?
I agree with the other guys, it sure looks like you’re blending two interlaced frames into a single progressive frame. The tell-tale is the “mice teeth” you see in high motion areas.
I suppose you could see the same thing if blended alternate lines from two progressive frames (say, rending a 60p video, badly, to 30p), but usually in such cases, you just want to drop one frame. Not sure how you’d set up this in Vegas, anyway (I could do it pretty easily in AVISynth). But how does your original frame rate compare to your output rate?

January 19, 2013 at 5:51 amI have figured it out, thank you all for your help. However, the quality is now projecting a shadowed effect on my video now. I have no idea what this is can anyone explain?

Not until you post the screen shots I asked for because that it still an interlacing problem in your screen shot.

The way you set this up in Vegas Pro is to go to each event and select Disable Resample in the Properties and it will drop every other frame when going from 60p to 30p or 60i.

January 19, 2013 at 8:19 pmIt’s odd that your media properties think that the file is progressive yet it came from a TV recording which is interlaced. Did you cahnge that? or did Vegas guess wrong? I’m guessing that the media is really interlaced. Try opening the file with MediaInfo and see if it thinks the video is interlaced.
Alternately, just change the Field Order of the Media to Upper Field First and see if that fixes it.
BTW, Setting your project up for 32-bit pixel format will also cause problems with some plug-ins. You should not be using 32-bit pixel format unless you are using 10-bit source video (which you are not) or fixing a particular banding problem with colors.
