render problems
I have been shooting with the same equipment for a long time,(Sony HDR FX 1 and a Canon Vixia 30) , editing and rendering without any problems. Now all of sudden I try to render my project in an AVI file and rather than the results coming out in approximately 7 or 8 gigs,(one to two hour project) it returns as a file with 154 gigs (a 22 minute project). In addition when I play the file the video loses synch with the audio. When that begins to happen if I pause it and start from that point, it goes back in synch. I tried rendering in a Main Concept Mpeg 4 file. That would work for short segments, maybe 7 minute portions, but when I try to do a 22 minute clip the video dis appears. Now the issue may be that I have not upgraded since Vegas 9, I have been doing just fine with 9 and was afraid to change something that was working good for me.
Can anyone advise me what to do. I’m now really stuck. I have a project I’ve been working on since June and now it is totally messed up. -

Right now I’m having horrible render problems with Vegas12 so it seems to be ongoing no matter what version it is. I know that’s no help to you but rendering often goes bad for me as well.

Thanks Roger, I realize my prob is solvable by going down to a lower resolution. I just rendered the 154 gig avi file to a non hi def mov. file and all problems solved. I’m beginning to think maybe my computer’s too slow to keep up. Time to dump some more money into the everlasting video production hole, I guess, unless there is someone who has another way for me.
