Render out different sections of the same comp?
Posted by Ben Lewis on May 19, 2016 at 4:47 pmHI I am trying to render out multiple sections of the same comp from AE. So basically I want say from 00:00 to 00:10 then 00:40 to 00:50 etc
I’m sure I’ve heard of a plug in to do this. Thanks!

May 19, 2016 at 8:28 pmIf you want to do one at a time you can just adjust the markers on the timeline (the two little blue knoblets) to the sections you want to render, just don’t “Trim to comp”. When done with 00:00 to 00:10 then move the markers to 00:10 to 00:20, etc.

May 19, 2016 at 8:31 pmThanks mate but I’m wanting to render out all at the same time. I’m sure I have seen a plug in for this.

May 20, 2016 at 7:43 amNo but thats cool. Just to clarify I want to export different sections of one comp. So imagine if you could set multiple work area sections then render all of those out at once.
Cheers

May 20, 2016 at 8:51 amHey Ben,
Provided you don’t change the timing of the master sequence, you can do this with nested sequences.
1) Take your master seq and nest it in a new seq.
2) Trim the nested master seq to the desired length (markers might make this easier).
3) Create a new sequence and repeat 1 and 2 for each area you want to render out separately.
4) Select each sequence in the project window and hit File > Export > Media. Since you’ve selected more than one sequence, you will be forced to send the renders to the Adobe Media Encoder queue.
5) Voilà!
The caveat: things will get a bit messy if you doing any ripple-editing on the master sequence…

May 20, 2016 at 5:06 pmAre we talking about AE or PPro here?
in PPro….
just set IN and OUT and Queue to Adobe Media Encoder
then repeat with a different IN and OUT as many times as you need…

May 20, 2016 at 6:01 pmHi Alex, thanks for posting. I was talking about AE. A similar workflow as the one you suggest in AE is what I am trying to achieve.
Cheers

May 21, 2016 at 1:33 pmIf you use AE and media encode the same thing applies.
Set your work area to the frame rage you want….
then with the comp selected
Composition > Add to Media Encoder Queue
go back to comp
Adjust work area frame range
Composition > Add to Media Encoder Queue
both will be added to the media encoder with different frame rages for rendering…
