Render Order Question- Stretched with fields
If you are working at 720 x 540 and you need to go to720 x 486, you can easily change the output module to stretch it to the proper resolution and pixel size.
The question I have is, if you have to change the size, but also need to add fields, can you just tell the render settings to use Lower Fields first and then in the output module stretch it during the render, or do you need to precomp the 720×540 comp into a 720×486 comp and then set the render setting to add fields.
In other words, which gets done first – Fields or stretching. If it’s stretching, great, if it’s fields, it means that the stretch will mess up the fields.
This has been an issue with AE in past versions, and I was trying to find out if they changed it.

Fields are done first, Aharon, so stretching in the OM will mess up the fields.
It’s best to drop it into a 486 comp then render that.

That’s what we’ve been doing here all day, but we weren’t sure if this was still an issue from previous versions of AE. You do something for so long, and you never wonder if it changed and now you don’t have to (or at least, you never wonder enough to test it, but it’s in the back of your mind when you do it).
