Render options limited
Posted by Francois Pénzes on January 2, 2013 at 10:20 pmBeen using Vegas since V.3 and just upgraded to V.12 from V.9. When selecting render as… in previous versions, I would get multiple choice of video formats. Now I only get one. Anybody had this problem ? I’ve included screen capture of V9 and V12 render format box.
(Wishing it won’t be a box I forgot to check….)
Cheers!

I don’t see the screen shot. Yes the render dialog has changed between V9 and V12 but everything is still there, just in a different interface. Without seeing what you’re seeing it’s hard to say but there should be a single long list of all of the video formats. You can right-click and select Collapse All to see the top level ones easily. Then click the black triangle next to the output format to see the templates.

January 4, 2013 at 6:44 pmThx John ! Maybe this would help, the files I am trying to render are .MXF from a P2. When I try to render, the only options I get are for audio only. Any suggestions ?
Cheers!

January 4, 2013 at 8:02 pmDoes the video correctly show up and play in your project? If Vegas thinks there is no video in the project it will hide the video output formats from the render window.

January 5, 2013 at 1:39 amTime line has video and audio. I can play it fine just as any other file. It’s only when I try to render that I get only audio options regardless if I just try to render the original file or the edited version. The only way I found so far is to open the file in Quicktime and save it as a .MOV file. Problem is that it I get a somewhat degraded file to start with. The main reason I upgraded to V12 was that I could open .MXF files directly in Vegas and not have to use my friends Avid suite.
Cheers !

January 5, 2013 at 2:21 pmI see Sony MXF (*.mxf) in your list. What happens with you open that output format? What templates are available?

January 6, 2013 at 11:58 pmHi John, I admire your patience….
I sent you the wrong screen shot, sorry. This is the one I should have sent you for V12.

I see that you have = Match Project Settings checked. What happens if you uncheck that? Perhaps you have changed your project settings in such a way that it does not match any of the default video templates?

January 7, 2013 at 3:54 pmHi John,
Bingo ! What threw me off was that I had checked the box Video only in the filter option section and did not uncheck Match Project Settings assuming that since the file had video then matching the project settings would. (for others reading this post, see screen capture)
Thank you John ! Have a great week !
