Render MP4 + 5.1 Surround sound – AC3 problem?
Windows 7 / Movie Studio Platinum 12 / + 11 HD Platinum
I’m trying to make an MP4 export of my project, with 5.1 surround sound. However, even though I’ve managed to adjust one of the AVCHD output formants to create an MP4 file with surround sound – all I get out of it is a silent video.
.m2ts output works fine, with all channels of audio.
Rendering the project as Stereo makes me lose the audio from some tracks. If I can’t find a solution, I guess a proper stereo downmix could be an option eventually.
I also tried exporting a (intentionally) silent mp4, and the audio as .ac3 file for manual muxing – and it appears like that’s where the problem might be. Resulting .ac3 file is at 945K (17 second test file), and doesn’t play either. Can’t import it into MSP, nor play in Quicktime.
Am I doing something wrong, should what I’m trying to do just work or am I being an idiot trying to do something I shouldn’t?
Thanks in advance for your help!
