Hey everyone, hopefully someone can help with this issue I’ve been having –

When working with Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ) footage converted from Raw Red Footage I came across some odd rendering issues when adding speed changes.

Granted my speed changes were quite substantial – 300% – 400% – but I’m not sure if that is the reason I had so many problems.

I would add a speed change and render the clip, usually only about 4 seconds long,it would play fine for the first couple of frames and then either freeze, or half the screen would go green or the image would have pink frames throughout it. I ended up having to render in chunks which worked better sometimes and had to nest clips and export/ import clips which proved a huge pain in the butt when I had client breathing down my neck, and even more of a pain when I had to pull my EDLs!!!

I am using Final Cut Pro 6.0.4 and as I mentioned I was working with Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ) footage.

Anyone else come across this? Any ideas around it?

    Thanks!

    Kim

The RED website refers to a green flash render problem with QT’s created from R3D files, but their message says to render in ProRes?

It does appear to be a known bug, but RED say FCP is to blame.
