Render Issues.. WHY WHY WHY???
Posted by Conan Stott on May 23, 2008 at 7:48 amHi there. When editing a project in final cut pro there is some inconsitency that I can not explain. Its in the fact that sometimes I can happily drop my footage into the timeline and work away without issue, yet other times im forced to render every little piece of footage I drop into the timeline!! What could be the possible reason for this annoying and expensive problem.
Any suggestions would again be much appreciated.
Thanks
Conan

“The fault dear Brutus is not in our stars, but in ourselves.”
– William ShakespeareMy purpose for quoting Shakespeare here is not to make you feel bad Conan, but rather to encourage you to be a bit more introspective. A better approach for you might be to ask, what step did I miss in my training and what do I need to go back and learn that will make my time working with FCP more consistent and more efficient?
I say this because, invariably, people like yourself who have issues such as the ones you’re having, are not opening their project and setting it up according to the very clear and concise instructions in the user manual, which detail the proper procedures for project setup using the “Easy Setups,” which should be used every time a new project is begun, and which will absolutely, positively guaranty that your project settings will match your media type, which is the key to success in editing with FCP.
Fortunately, for those who don’t like reading manuals, Walter Biscardi created a truly handy video tutorial, which you can find at https://library.creativecow.net/articles/biscardi_walter/realtime_sequences.php. I highly recommend you watch it, remember it, and follow the instructions precisely every time you open a project, and you will find that FCP will actually work consistently every time, and the annoying and expensive problems you’ve been encountering will simply disappear.
I hope his helps…
