I have a 40 minute show that after everytime I render it, the program automatically breaks the video into segments of 18 min – 48 seconds. Why?! How do I change that number? Why that number? And can I render a project without using breaks? Please, help me. I am baffled as to why the program would do that on it’s own without me setting it first. Help! Show me the way, point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Sounds like your render drive is formatted as FAT-32 instead of NTFS.
Simply put FAT-32 has a rather small file size limit. If you render your project to a harddrive that is formatted FAT-32, you will hit that limit just minutes in and then Vegas has no choice but to break your render up into several small files.

Your Video drive for both capture and render should be formatted NTFS which will allow you to render very long, big, files.

    Regards, Rick.

I agree with Rick. That’s definitely the 4 Gig size limit. Check the formatting of the drive. If it’s FAT32, that’s the reason. To get around that, change it to NTFS.
