Render from AE looks bad in FCP
I did a search and couldn’t find anything… But I’ve got a end title card for an edit that looks horrible when I put it in my edit in FCP. The edges of the text are aliasing really really bad. The clip looks fine in QT, so it’s got to be something with FCP (v 6.0.3).
All that is on the title card is text (helvetica) over a gray background. In AE, I’m using a NTSC DV composition at 29.97. In FCP I’m using a DV/DVCPro NTSC sequence. Both 720×480 with NTSC .9 pixel aspect ratio. I’ve rendered out the file using a variety of codecs (DV, Animation, None), all with the same result.
In Final Cut I’m set to render at best video quality and when I use the DV codec, I do not have to render and it still looks unacceptable.
The video is for online distribution, not TV, and any conversion to square pixel would take place down stream from me in the encoding process. I deliver a 29.97 DV/DVCPro NTSC file to the encoding department.Any ideas?
