    Okay – this one is frustrating. I’ve tried various templates in Sony Vegas Pro 10.0d(Build 670) 64Bit to render a 9 minute film shot with my Sony HDR-SR12 (mts file format), but each time I try to render the movie, it locks up at the same place (45%). I’ve had success rendering this to MPEG-2 / DVD Architect 24P NTSC Widescreen video stream, but no HD rendering success.

    BACKGROUND:

    * I have 10 individual veg files (one representing each scene)
    * I started a “master veg” file and began dropping in each of the scene’s veg files
    * All veg files nested nicely until I tried to drop in “Scene 10”. When I did that, the “Master veg file” refused to let the scene 10 veg drop into the “master veg timeline”
    * After trying that numerous times, I decided to go backwards and began dropping scenes 1-9 veg files into scene 10’s veg file.

    * I now have all my veg files in one time line.

    * I did all my post work on this new timeline

    * When I tried to render this to an HD format (the last try was “Main Concept MPEG-2 / Template: BluRay 1920x1080i 24p/25mbps) I get the system freezing up at 45% of the render

    OTHER OBSERVATIONS:

    * Original footage was shot at 1920×1080
    * Project Properties are 1920×1080, 24FPS
    * Running Windows 7 Professional SP1 (64Bit)
    * Intel i7CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz / 12GB RAM

    NOTE: When I launch the master veg file I get a warning that says “Some Streams in the Media File Could Not be Opened”. When I click on details it says: “A nested project source was not found” (and it names the scene). However, all portions of the veg file are there and play perfectly in the timeline, as well as when rendered to MPEG-2 / DVD Architect 24P NTSC Widescreen video stream.

    Does anyone know why this could be happening?

    As usual thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    [Marlen Mathers] ” “A nested project source was not found””

    This means that something in one of your nested files is missing. Go into each of the nested projects and remove all unused media from the “Project Media” window. (The lightning icon).

    Thanks Steve….indeed I did have a number of unused media files in the “Project Media” tab. I went ahead and removed all the unused files. However it still did not help. I am still locking up at the same point in the rendering process.

    I’ll keep trying, perhaps rendering individual scenes to isolate the problem…

    SUCCESS!!! Perhaps this will help someone if they run into a similar problem. I went back and rendered each scene individually with the “Main Concept MPEG-2 / Template: BluRay 1920x1080i 24p/25mbps” template. All scenes rendered successfully. However, the master veg file would still not render.

    I then went in and looked at each scene’s “Properties” and noted that not all scenes were consistent. Some were using the HD 1080-24p others were using a template that had 29.970 FPS. Further I had different “Pixel Formats (some at “8 bit” other scenes at “32-bit floating point full range”).

    Once I made all scenes consistent (“Main Concept MPEG-2 / Template: BluRay 1920x1080i 24p/25mbps” And “32-bit floating point full range”) I was able to render with success……

    Good learning experience…
