    Hi,

I have just recently started a small multimedia production company specializing in website design, corporate videos/presentations, and so on. I am finding that waiting 24hrs for my G4 to render 11mins of video is killing my productivity. I am reading up on render farms and am very computer/tech savvy. I am looking for advice on what kind of setup works best for my situation.

I have used PCs extensively my whole life but have converted to mac over the past 4-5 years. I would like to run a windows based render farm as I am more versed with the guts of a windows machine as opposed to a OS X based machine. If needed I am willing to setup a OS X farm but would like to stay away from setting up a mixed farm of Linux machines as I have never setup linux before, although I’m willing to try anything to get the best results.

I have read some pretty good articles about Queue Managers and how to setup a farm with dedicated supervisor machines, etc, but am unsure as to what has proven reliable in the industry. I like to push my machine pretty hard as it is and will probably be diving into Maya a little more, as long as I don’t have to wait hours to see samples, lol.

    Help appreciated…
