    Quick Question:

To use a Render Farm in C4d can you use both PC’s and Macs or must it be the same as the system that C4d is running on ?

Also is that a seperate module to get a render farm setup or can you do it with the broadcast version ?

    Thanks.

Not sure on the broadcast version–I do believe so, but to answer the rest of your question
Maxon ships both PC and Mac compliant install clients for NetRender on the install DVD. I know in studio you are able to install it on as many machines as you have in your possession, with the NetRender Server on your main licensed machine.
I have heard mixing processors might yield different results, but if you stick with a single brand you shouldn’t see any differences. I have both PC and Mac’s rendering projects with the Intel processors, and I haven’t seen any issues yet.
    Hope this helps

I have hijacked about every computer in our offices for NetRender. I think there are about 7 boxes that I have running it, and the only time I get issues is when running Thinking particles, or random based effects like that. Then the specifics of the processors come into play in how they make their calculations. They claim it *shouldn’t* matter, but it does. Believe me.

As far as the net render mod, I think every base copy of C4D comes with a 3 seat net render license, but not sure as I have Studio, and that is unlimited.

Oh, and I’m running all Macs, both Intel and PPC. Not sure why I bother with the PPC machines, the intels render 10 frames and the PPC is only done with 1/2 a frame.

Hope this helps. Oh, and don’t forget to copy all the plugins to the net render machines. Otherwise goofy things happen.
