Came across a blog post that described a short tutorial on rendering out some footage to give it a distinct vintage feel: “the video frames are rendered out at 12fps every other frame”.

The footage was most likely in a timeline of 23.97 fps. I’m not sure I really understand what the tutorial meant by that? any ideas? I understand rendering out at a different overall frame rate, but 12 fps every other frame?

(It should be 23.976, not 23.97. AE cares about the extra decimal point.)
