  • Render DPX with file header timecode

I have a problem regarding rendering out dpx files with tape names preserved as header metadata. When we do an export using the commercial workflow, or the other one with source timecode, tape names from the source files are not preserved. They get different ones from Resolve that make no sense. The timecode is correct though.

This is a problem when exporting clips with handles for conform with EDL in Flame/Smoke, the files that we render out from Resolve need to have the same tape names as in the EDL/source files.

Is there a fix for this?

Are you assigning a tape name in the Media Pool when you bring in the source files? You need to explicitly tell Resolve what to use as the tape name on input in order to have it recreate it properly on output. The section on the right side of the Configuration page in which you do that (the one in which you can choose to extract the reel name from either the path name, an embedded name in the header, or a user assigned name) is there for that purpose.

As Mike says, enable reel number support with the embedding in the file option, it will read and write the DPX header tape name as it came in.
