    Hi,

When rendering Animation, ProRez, Tiff or similar – the quick time player will show a little desaturated colors.
When dragging the rendered file back into AE it looks good.

I know this is an Quicktime player issue.
I am not talking about the gamma issue, what I am talking about is loss of chroma.

Do you have any tips on how to deal with this?

Same happens both in QTP and QTP7.

Not really. Quicktime Player is not color managed, so trying to match color to it is a nightmare. Anything you do to try to make it look right in Quicktime will make it wrong elsewhere.

It is the “gamma” problem. The Quicktime player will routinely lower contrast across the board. Lowering contrast will also lower strongly saturated colors (it’s a perceptual difference). https://vitrolite.wordpress.com/2010/12/31/quicktime_gamma_bug/ speaks the best about the issue.

Thank you, the X264 encoder works perfect in Avid.

Except that AE no longer cant render anything. It says “an output module failed. the file may be damaged or corrupted. (1610153464)” when trying to render.
Have you got this codec to work with AE?
