I am using the Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0 Trial version…

I finished editing my video project and now I need to render and burn it. My files are from the Sony HD1 camera – shot in 1080HD. The files are .m2ts — I assume those are HD files?

I set up the project with 1440x1080x32 29.970i — when I render what “save as type” and “template” should I use? I want to save the file on my computer so that I can later burn it to a Blu-Ray DVD (when I purchase a BD Burner).

I also want to burn this same video to a regular SD DVD if possible so that I can send it to my parents – who do not have a BD player and probably never will. Is this possible without losing the BD file I also want to create — I understand I will probably need to render twice…once for each format.

Thank you for any and all help you can offer!

You’ll be able to change out the template at any time, but your editing template should be the HDV 1080/60i template.
From there, you’ll be able to create both SD and HD discs.
they’ll save as .vf (video factory) files in the project mode, and you’ll want to use the supplied render templates in the “Make Movie” dialogs to assure BD compatibility.
These will not render in the trial versions, BTW.
