Sorry for the simple question, haven’t got my training yet, we’re just starting to set up the system before the trainer gets here, and as a warm-up we imported some composite video into this new dual-proc, top of the line G5 unit using the AJA Io and almosta t-byte of Promax SATA RAID. Clip of one video and two audio tracks, shows up in bin, check, drag into timeline, check.

Instant red line over the top of timeline and announcement of “render required”.

    WTH?

The video in the timeline dose not match the sequence settings of the time line. If the video is say animation codec @ 486×720, and your using the dv sequence settings you must render the video. Under the “final cut pro” menu you will find easy setups. Use these settings to capture and edit in the right codec. or change the sequence settings to match the video settings.
