    Create a background object and place a material on it with the color of your choice, or in the object’s Basic tab, set the object’s color mode to Always and select a color.

    If you want set it up as a default, you can add it to an empty scene and then save the scene to your Cinema root directory as NEW.C4D. Then Cinema will always start up with that scene. You could even go a step farther by creating a layer for the BG object and turning off it’s “show in object manager” switch before saving.
