  Render Audio vs Generate Audio Waveform

  What’s the difference?
  I’m working on a multicamera sequence and when I change some audio within the multicamera timeline (sequence) I lose the waveform back in the Multicam sequence. I’d expect to click on Generate Audio Waveform but it seems to do nothing. Rendering the audio is what gives me the waveform back.
