Render 1920×1080 – Error Message
Posted by Juliane Meierbach on September 26, 2008 at 5:59 amI made a scene 1920×1080. When i want to render my particles as a png-sequence with alpha, the pIllusionRender opens and following error message occurs: “An invalid argument was encountered.” With 1024×576 it works. But I really need to render it with 1920×1080.
What can i do?
I’m using particleIllusion 3.0.3.Juliane Meierbach replied 17 years, 7 months ago 4 Members · 11 Replies -

September 27, 2008 at 12:18 amSounds like you have the problem I had. Try this…
Save the scene in pIllusion.
Launch pIllusionRender.
Select your project file.
Select a target folder for output frames.
Click on Options -> Uncheck Use OpenGL hardware acceleration -> OK
Check Save Alpha.
Click on Render.Turn off the preview to speed up render.
Hope this works for you.

September 27, 2008 at 11:32 amIt sounds to me like you’re not using the latest version of pIRender. When you do a “check for updates” do you see pIRender listed? If so, download and install the update.
If that’s not the problem or it still doesn’t work after updating, email support at wondertouch dot com and we’ll figure out the details of what’s wrong.

September 29, 2008 at 6:35 amI’m using the the latest version of pIllusionRender.
The rendering works with 1920×1080, but when i turn off the background image, it doesn’t work anymore and the error message occurs.

September 29, 2008 at 12:51 pmRemove the background image instead of turning it off and let me know if that works.

September 30, 2008 at 11:50 amI don’t understand the difference between removing and turning it off. I go to background image, remove and then the bg-icon gets a red cross the same way like when I turn it off.

October 4, 2008 at 2:17 pmi finally found out, what was going wrong. i don’t really understand it, but i found out that the error message only occurs, when the background video is a .wmv-file. with .avi it works perfectly. even if i remove the .wmv-movie it doesn’t work. when i take an .avi-video instead and then remove it again, it suddenly works… weird…

October 6, 2008 at 4:01 pmMaybe there is a problem with WMV in pIRender — we’ll check into it.
BUT…
If you “remove” the WMV, then your project no longer has a WMV file in it, and it should work fine in pIRender, even if there is a problem with WMV in pIRender.

October 6, 2008 at 5:10 pmJuliane,
is it possible for you to check the versions of particleIllusion and pIllusionRender and post them? pI is easy just do Help->About. pIR click the [?] button under the [render] button in the pIR dialog. Also can you provide the specifications of the wmv file you are using for a background? You can generally R-click->Properties->Summary to get the info but you may also have to click the [advanced] button.
Thanks,
John
