I have a file with the following properties per Vegas Pro 9

    video:
    704x304x12 @ 23.976fps
    alpha none
    field order none (progressive scan)
    xvid mpeg-4 codec

    audio:
    127 kBit/sec 48,000 hz stereo
    Lame MP3

I went and chopped a couple of short sections out (so they were replaced with just black video and silence and wanted to save this back without having to transcode the whole thing again. As I have not been able to figure this out, I tried manually setting the output to all the same settings as above, bowever Lame MP3 doesnt have 127 kBit and even selecting 128 and confirming takes me back to the summary and shows no audio will be output. I go back into the audio tab and everything is blank. I’m assuming that’s perhaps because I don’t have that particular codec on this machine?

In any event, is there a way I can just remove those sections without having to re-transcode? Thanks!

Vegas is not the right tool for this. Unfortunately, I don’t know what is for DivX. I’ve had the same problem with transport streams that I don’t want to re-encode and I’ve been using TXMuxer and TSRemux to cut and paste AVCHD files together with great success. You need to find something similar for DivX files.
