  • Removing out points from stills before editing

Hello – I am editing my first project in Premiere CS6, after many years using Final Cut 7.

I edit a lot of slide lectures, where I often have 100+ stills to edit into the sequence. My usual method is to mark in & out on the sequence, and then edit in the still.

Problem is, in Premiere the stills automatically have in/out marks (as predetermined by the default duration set in Preferences). On every single edit, Premiere brings up a “Fit Clip” dialogue box, prompting me to chose which in/out point to ignore. To me, the sequence in/out is most important, and so I have to click “Ignore Source Out Point” every time. This is really slowing me down, having to answer this question over and over again.

In the case of a 4 point edit like this, Final Cut 7 assumed that the sequence in/out was dominant, and just ignored the source out point. Can I set up Premiere the same way? Otherwise, my only alternative is to remove the out point of each slide before editing to the timeline. Just one extra keystroke, I know, but it adds up. If this is my only option, is there at least a way to delete the out points from a group of stills en masse?

By the way, this is only a problem with stills Movie files seem to import without pre-marked in/out points.

    Thanks very much –

Not sure how to resolve this issue, but I find it very inconvenient as well. To speed up the process, I created a keyboard shortcut to delete the in, out and both in/out points. So, after you double click the image to load it into your source monitor, press the shortcut you need and life should be a little easier/faster. I think there is already a shortcut for these commands but I wanted them on specific keys.

    Hope this helps.
