    Hi there,

I added FCP’s de-interlacing video filter to clips in my project, and now I can’t remove them. Some of them make the footage look too blurry. When I hit “remove attributes” and “filters” and “ok,” my clip gets a green bar in the timeline indicating rendering for preview is required. So I “render only for preview,” but then it renders with the filter. I click “remove attributes” and there’s the darn filters tab checked again.

I tried unclicking the “filters” option in sequence settings –> render control, and it would get rid of the green bar when I’d remove the filter. And it would even look like the filter was removed sometimes. But then when I’d click on the clip again and hit “remove attributes,” there would be that dang filters tab checked again. Am I missing something here?

Any ideas would be so appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Marisa

If you are saying that selecting your clips and Remove Attributes>filters>ok is not removing a filter, then that is strange behaviour. I would suggest searching this forum for the often written advice on trashing preferences and repairing permissions and then reopen FCP and try again.

    Thanks, Michael!

The weird thing is that when I remove the filter, I see a visible difference in the footage–as if the filter had been removed. But then I need to render it, and when it renders, I think the filter comes back on.

Dumb question: when YOU remove a filter on a clip and then you go back and click on “remove attributes” again, is the filter still checked?

[Marisa Miller Wolfson] “when YOU remove a filter on a clip and then you go back and click on “remove attributes” again, is the filter still checked?”

If you delete a specific filter and then do remove attributes, the filter check box will be ticked if there are other filters on the clip. If there are no filters then no, that box will not auto tick.

    Hi Michael,

I’ve been caught up with other things and just getting back to this dang filter problem.

I trashed prefs, ran a disk utility (disk was okay) and nada. I delivered the project to my colorist and tried to remove filters on her computer in FCP 6 (same as mine) and still couldn’t get rid of it. I have no idea what do do next and can’t find anyone online yet with the same problem.

    Hmm…
