I have the problem when I record soft songs with an acoustic guitar of the mic picking up too much of the metronome. When there is a break in the music the click is very apparent and it just doesn’t sound “professional”. How would I go about reducing it

put the metronome in a far away location from your guitar recording mic. with a mic. Then run the mic feed to a mixer then into your headphones.

The metronome is coming through my headphones from my recording software and I nedd to hear it loud enough to stay in time. I guess what I’m asking is if there is some kind of noise reduction tactic used in Vegas I could perform to eliminate this unwanted click in my guitar track

I’ve had a lot of musician friends tell me the biggest problem with the metronome track in Vegas (unlike apps like Logic Audio) is that it’s just there and that, short of disabling it, there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it 🙁

    1. Use closed headphones. (Ones that cover your ears completely)
    2. Bring the volume down on the click track, so it’s audible enough to play on time with, but not dominate.
    3. Turn down the volume on the headphone amp. Make sure your input level is good and hot though. So you are recording a loud signal, but only hearing a soft signal.
    4. Lastly, if you are still getting bleed from the click track (And you shouldn’t be) Use the audio editor of your software to remove the click sound in the passages where there is no acoustic guitar playing, simply by dragging the start and stop locations.
