September 21, 2009 at 9:41 pm1) Add any emitter to an new project
2) Click “Save Output” button
3) Choose PNG or TGA output, supply filename
4) Check “Save Alpha” option
5) optional: uncheck “remove black bg from RGB channels”You can also save as AVI if you use a format that supports alpha (like HuffYUV or Lagarith) and the codec is configured for an alpha channel.
If you’ve done this, what are you using to view the image or movie? It may be that your viewer or video editor is only showing the RGB channels.

September 22, 2009 at 12:04 amThanks Alan
Eventually, I was able to save the sequence of .png images into a QuickTime Movie file for use in other 3D apps.
Clicking the right buttons to get the Lagarith idea for AVI seems beyond me
All the same, very surprised at the complexity of the saving approach to make the results usable.

September 22, 2009 at 12:24 pmWhat makes it complex, checking the “save alpha” box?
If you’re on a Mac just save QuickTime directly from pIllusion, using the Animation compressor set to the highest quality and number of colors.

September 22, 2009 at 3:26 pmDepends what you mean — do you mean “make it show on a checkerboard like in Photoshop”? If so, the problem is not that the image doesn’t contain transparency (it does if you check the “save alpha” option), the problem is in the way you view the image.
If you have an image that you created with “save alpha” checked and it does not contain transparency, please send it to me at support at wondertouch dot com.
