  • Removing and Adding Audio to a Video Segment

My question is this: I need to film someone with a digital camera, and then add voiceover to what I’ve already filmed. I don’t know how to delete just the audio as it seems for Final Cut Pro, the audio and the video are intrinsically tied to one another I want to use the video camera to record her voice over. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have. Thank You.

You can highlight any video/audio segment in the timeline and use the unlink command to separate them. Once that’s done you can highlight either the video or the audio track and delete it. The Link/Unlink command is in the Modify menu and is a toggle. Or you can use the shortcut “Cmd- L”.

Gee, doesn’t anyone read a manual or do tutorials any more?

I’m not anyone does read manuals anymore. 🙂

You can also turn off the audio before you place the video on the timeline. Just click the A1 and A2 tabs on the far left of the timeline before you place the video in the timeline (F10). Hope you got this covered.
