Removing a project FAIL…
I created a couple events to add projects, mainly for testing. I shut down FCPx (10.2.1) and deleted the project folders from my movies/project-LIBRARY folder. When I opened FCPx again, the projects are still in my Library in FCPx… just no events and no option to delete.
What do I need to do to get rid of these guys?

Just trying to get my head around what you did….
You delete libraries in the Finder. You delete projects and events from inside FCPX. You’re saying you deleted projects and/or events in the Finder?
If so, delete the library and start again – you’ve screwed the library’s database. Or more precisely, FCPX is heavily database driven. If you’ve deleted something but the database doesn’t know it, weird things will happen.

Yeah unless you’re down to your last KB on a hard drive ‘deleting’ Projects doesn’t make much sense. Just start a new Library.

I don’t even get why you would want to do that.

That makes no sense, unless you are in fact using an age old version of X… but even then… huh? Since how and where exactly can a project exist OUTSIDE of an event?? If you’re actually seeing projects directly within a library, then you’ve seriously messed things up and can only delete the library, yes.

Did you update a pre 10.1 project/event pair to a Library? If so, what you’re seeing is expected as everything is in the new Library. is all the media there? If so, you can just delete the projects from the Library if you want to. Also, and sorry if I’m misunderstanding and this isn’t the case, but read up on how Libraries work in newer versions of X. 🙂

Just in general, if you’re working in the Finder – you’re NOT working in the X database where it manages and stores everything it needs to operate the program.
So unless you’re a very experienced X operator, it’s best to try NEVER to mess with X stuff at the finder level.
It’s a database at its heart and as such MUST dependably know where it’s assets are located. Messing with the files via the finder puts you at risk.
