Hi, I embedded an image onto a background. The image (from Pixabay) was on a transparent background. That part is ok, but there is a fine white line around some parts of the image of the soldier that show up more when the whole is saved in a smaller size ( for an eBook cover). Spot healing and other brushes don’t help. How can I remove this white line?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

While the image is still on it’s own layer, select the transparency of the layer by ctrl-clicking on the layer thumbnail. The choose select>modify>contract and contract by one pixel. Click on the layer mask icon/button at the bottom of the layers panel. Result: one pixel from the edge of the layer is hidden by the layer mask.

If you need to tweak this further, you can paint on the layer mask with black or white to show or hide other parts.

Note: You may need to contract the edge by more than one pixel depending on how accurately the image has been extracted to begin with.
