    Hi guys

I am having trouble with the common “Remove the cassette” issue on my Canon XM1. I have seen this message come up before on my camera, but it hasn’t caused me any prolonged problems in the past, as the tapes seem to work fine after an hour or so. However, I recently shot a film onto a brand new tape and after about five minutes of batching the footage onto Final Cut it suddenly malfunctioned and the message “Remove the cassette” flashed up on the camera’s LCD screen.

I am now in the dreaded position of having lost the footage (and with it, much time and money), but for no discernible reason. The camera plays other tapes, and why it can’t play a tape that has basically gone straight from its brand new casing to camera tape deck and nowhere else should mean that cassette and camera are in perfect working order. I am baffled.

Any help would of course be much appreciated. Thanks! Jamie

Sounds like a trip to Canon Service is necessary.

I know how to fix the typical “Remove the cassette” trouble on Canon camcorders. I try to upload a video on youtube

Wind the tape on and rewind again.
You dont know the condition tapes have been stored in, before you buy them.
