  • Remove music and leave vocal on a audio track? Is it possible?

Posted by Allan Boes on August 26, 2011 at 3:11 pm

I’m playing around with some imported VHS footage, which already has music on:(

But I want to replace it, still leaving the rest of the sound(vocals, ect.)

Is there any possiblety for this, and if so how do I do it:)

Vegas can’t do this for you but I seem to have read about some Kereoke equipment that can. Have you looked into that solution?

Have looked a little around, but still can’t find anything.
Unless its the vocal i want to remove from a song, that seems easy enough.
But nothing if it’s old background music I want to remove.

There’s an old expression that goes “you can’t take the eggs out of a cake after you bake it”.
The same holds true when trying to take anything out a an already mixed music track.
Too many sounds are at the same frequencies so trying to take them out (especially music) will destroy the remaining audio.

There are,at least, two softwares (Audicity and Sound Forge) that can eliminate some frequencies from a sound track but not all the music. They can eliminate, for example, wind sound or ambient noise.
