  • remove effects on multiple layers

Say I have 10 layers in my comp and each one has the same effect applied to it… Is there a way I can remove this effect from all layers at one time, without having to do it layer by layer? I figure there has to be some under-the-hood type of trick for this.

    Thx!

not that i know of…. although i’m sure a script could be written, but that would take much longer than deleting 10 effects.

but if you want to apply the same effect (with the same settings) to ten layers, you can apply the effect to an adjustment layer (layer>new>adjustment layer). any effects applied to the adjustment layer will be applied to all layers below that adjustment layer. then if you needed to delete an effect on the adjustment layer, there would only be one effect to delete.

You can remove ALL effects like this:

    Select the layers.

    Go to Effect>Remove All

But, it sounds like you are looking to remove one certain effect and leave another?

graymachine: Yeah, that’s pretty much what I need to do.

moldyboot: I do use adjustment layers for that purpose. So nice to have them. I had myself in a situation where I had about 40 layers (not 10, that was just for the example) and there was the same levels effect applied to many of them (not all of them) and there were also other effects in the mix; so the Remove All command wouldn’t work for me either.

    Thanks for your responses!
