    Hi,

I have a shot with a man looking at himself in a mirror, and I would like to remove the image of the man but keep the mirror and the background to use with a greenscreen shot. Does anyone know of a way that I can do this in Avid? I’ve tried using the scratch removal effect with the avid effects manual but it’s not very clear and I am getting nowhere fast.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Did you shoot a clean plate of the mirror and background only? That’s pretty imperative to making this work. Also, does your shot have a camera move or is it locked off?

    Sincerely,

you would use the animatte plugin to create an animated mask as you would in after effects. its basically rotoscoping.

Animatte is available IF he’s on Media Composer or Symphony and not Xpress DV or Pro. You still need a clean background to replace the person’s image, though. The only other alternative is to make sure the greenscreen person is big enough to cover-up the person in the image below.

    Sincerely,
    Oliver
