November 27, 2010 at 4:22 amHaven’t done any jobs, but I’d tested it a while ago with my Resolve driving second Resolve. I had conformed Red project on both machines from same EDL with same RAW files on both and it worked beautifully…

November 29, 2010 at 3:14 amHi Dan,
We’ve tested this many times already in various combo – Resolve on MacBook Pro controlling a Resolve on MacPro and vice versa and a Resolve Mac Pro controlling and Resolve Linux and vice versa.
Basically the two Resolve machines need to be able to “see” each other on the network and have the same project/media locally on the two Resolve machines. The easiest I’ve found is to prepare the project on one machine and then export it out and then import into the other machine. For the media, you’ll just need to change the parent directory since it may be in a different directory structure.
I’ve yet to try remote grading literally into different locations as so far it has been within close proximity just to demonstrate the feature. Just need to figure out how to get both machines to “see” other across the internet 🙂

November 29, 2010 at 9:23 amI haven’t dug into this feature, and probably never will.. Isn’t there anywhere you can select what port to be used for communication? If so it should be a quick fix through the router and firewalls to open that port and forward it to the mac with IP “xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” in your local network.

November 29, 2010 at 2:14 pmYou just have to build direct vpn tunnels.
It is pretty eazy if you have any networking experience.
I edit some audio stuff over internet from my home machine
connected directly to my office via tunnel. All media even in the office machine.
It is doable.

November 29, 2010 at 2:54 pmA number of the larger companies running resolve use remote grading between offices in London and New York. Works a treat 🙂
